Jean Griswold, Founder & Director of GRISWOLD SPECIAL CARE Receives Honorary PhD from Holy Family University (05/17/2006)
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania -- On May 13, 2006, Jean Griswold received the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, from Holy Family University, Philadelphia, PA. Founded in 1954, Holy Family University is a fully accredited Catholic, private, co-educational, four-year university with campuses in Northeast Philadelphia, and Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Upon conferring the degree, University President, Sister Francesca Onley, CSFN, PhD, cited the justification for the honor as Jean Griswold's outstanding contributions made to society, to those in need of care, and to the common good. According to Sister Francesca, she "is an exemplary model for the University's mission of commitment to the dignity of the human person and the oneness of the human family."

Company Brings Quality Homecare to Hudson County, New Jersey (03/01/2006)

In his dissertation entitled "The Evolving Needs for Home-Care Services within the Aging Population of Those Living with Multiple Sclerosis", Griswold studied services available to this population in relation to needs still unmet. "The homecare industry is primarily focused on the elderly", commented Dr. Griswold, "however my research has shown that 31% of persons living with a disability and experiencing long term care needs are 65 years of age or younger." For more than a decade, Kent Griswold has served as President and Chief Financial Officer of GRISWOLD SPECIAL CARE. The son of company founder Jean Griswold, Kent held several high-level positions in finance in Hong Kong and Australia before moving back to the Philadelphia area and joining the homecare company.
Griswold holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University and a master's degree in business administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has also studied at the University of London and The Stockholm School of Economics.
Dr. Griswold who has been featured in Business Philadelphia's "100 People to Watch" and the Philadelphia Business Journal's "Forty Under Forty" lists, was named a White House Fellow Regional Finalist in 1992 and included in several editions of "Who's Who in Finance and Industry." A Certified Senior Advisor, he had served as chair of the Long-Term Care Consortium, is immediate past chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and is on the Board of Directors of the ALS Association.

Family Caregivers Find Welcome Relief & Respite (07/01/2004)
Erdenheim, PA July, 2004 "The Passing of former President Ronald Reagan, due in large part to the devastating effects of Alzheimer's Disease, has brought national attention to what once was considered a family-only matter. According to the National Survey on Health Care and Other Elder Care Issues (The Family Circle/Kaiser Family Fdn, Sept., 2000), a large share of adults with a parent 65+ reported being actively involved in the daily lives of their aging parent, with over 50% reporting that their parent has physical or mental health problems, or both. Over 50% check in on their parent and 42% visit their parent at least once a week.

Erdenheim, PA January 2003 Mr. Kent C. Griswold, President of GRISWOLD SPECIAL CARE, has been named to the Board of Directors of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association.
The ALS Association (ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) is the only national not-for-profit voluntary health organization whose sole mission is to find a cure for ALS and to improve living with the disease. The Greater Philadelphia Chapter serves persons with ALS and their caregivers who live in the Eastern half of PA, Central and Southern NJ, and the state of DE. ALS can cost a family as much as $250,000 a year.
